Dr. James Reese is currently an Associate Professor of English and Director of the Great Plains Writing Tour at Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota. He has also worked for over a decade in the United States prison systems as an educator. Dr. Reese has published three books of poetry, and his most recent work Bone Chalk is his first work of published prose. He has many awards including first place in the 2018 Allen Ginsberg Poetry Awards.

We discuss crime, mental & physical health and well-being and how expressive writing can have a piece to play in all of it. I also read from his most recent work and we talk in depth about how crime has personally impacted and shaped his life.
