This section documents an archive of poetry readings and audio interviews from the long-running program The Poet and the Poem from the Library of Congress. The program is sponsored by the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry and the Humanities Council of Washington, D.C.

The series includes interviews and readings from several U.S. Poets Laureate, State Poets Laureate, Pulitzer Prize winners, Witter Bynner fellows, and a number of other significant poets, collected over 25 years. The show first aired on WPFW-FM radio in Washington, D.C., and currently features on a special podcast as well as on National Public Radio, and features the poets’ discussions of craft and sources of inspiration, as well as readings of their poetry, with host Grace Cavalieri.
